Venkatesh Prabhu who is well known by his stage name Dhanush, Son of Kasthuri Raja made his debut in Thulluvadho ilamai in 2002 directed by his father Kasthuri Raja. His elder brother Director Selva Raghavan also made his debut in this film as Writer. He was noted by his second movie Kaadhal Kondein directed by Selvaraghavan in 2003.

In 2006 Dhanush and Selvaraghavan Combo join hands in film Pudhuppettai which is all-time favourite Cult classic Gangster movie for Tamil cinema Fans. 2006 and 2007 can be marked as a Golden period for Dhanush. In 2007 he gave Polladhavan and Parattai engira azhagu Sundaram which is a turning point in his career. Polladhavan gave a Box office hit but Parattai engira azhagu Sundaram proved him as a notable actor.
Later in 2011, his movie Aadukalam directed by Vetrimaaran takes Dhanush to the top-notch in Kollywood. In 2013 he made his debut in Bollywood in the movie Raanjhanaa and made his debut in Hollywood in The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir. He's not only an actor he's also a Playback singer, writer, Producer and Director.
He acted in 5 movies in the year 2011 and he never acted as a Cop in his movies and he didn't join hands with Vadivelu in any of his movies. Dhanush gave notable acting as mentally ill in his movies Kadhal Kondein, 3 and Mayakkam Enna. A movie buff who watched any of these three movies can never hate Dhanush. He's married to Aishwarya daughter of Kollywood Superstar Rajinikanth.
Dhanush received National award for Aadukalam as an actor and for Visaranai and kaaka muttai as Producer. He also won Filmfare award for 3, Mariyan, Aadukalam, VIP and Vada Chennai as an actor, Filmfare award for best playback singer for Y dis Kolaveri and Filmfare award for best producer Kaaka muttai.
Dhanush is one of the few actors who is well recognised for acting even beyond Tamil cinema. In a time when there is debate about nepotism and the ill effects of the same, Dhanush proved to be an exception in that he has stepped out of his family's shadow on his own and made his own mark on Tamil cinema. He also helped a lot of newcomers and helped them gain a foothold in the industry. And that requires a lot of heart and can be only done by a person who has faced the same hardships
