Dark season 3 predictions and teaser impressions
Updated: Jul 23, 2020
The teaser for season 3 of Netflix's popular German language Sci-Fi thriller is out now. You can check the trailer out here.
Spoiler alert for anyone who has not watched the first two seasons of dark yet ( I don't know what you are doing by not watching dark yet, you can stop whatever the hell you are doing and go watch it, and if you are still not convinced, you can find our review of dark here).
We learnt that Adam is actually Jonas from the future who is disfigured after exposed to the god particles for so long, and that the original universe's Martha is dead and there are multiple universes out there. We see Jonas going to one such parallel universe with a Martha from another universe.
The trailer shows their adventures in the multiverse and their fight against Adam and his group (the sic mundus) who want to monopolise the time travel capabilities. There are a couple of instances where the teaser resembles the other big news in terms of time- Christopher Nolan's Tenet (you can check that out here). Just like in tenet we see events happening in reverse. We don't know now whether dark is also going to explore turning back time, but considering the tight leash the characters have been under in the previous two seasons, in terms of their abilities to modify events in time, I don't think it's possible. There is also a shot showing Adam in contact with the god particle, so we can know how Jonas turned into Adam, or whether it is Jonas or someone else too (which is a strong possibility) there is also the small case of the series two woman, Hannah and Katharina, who have both traveled back in time, and we don't yet know what happened afterward to them. But the series main exploration will be the relationships between Jonas, Martha and Bartosz. Because the main theme of the show other than time travel is the exploration of the triangle law. And their relationship is the major motivation for at least a couple of events that lead to the second season finale. Fingers crossed that the tortured soul that is Jonas, finds some respite from his puppet master.
The hype is real and you will get the review of the third season as soon as we watch it by June 27, 2020.
The reason for that release date is probably well known to most of you. But here it is anyway. According to dark, June 27th is the day of the apocalypse. Season 2 aired on a similar note (it aired on June 21st, which is the date Mikkel/Michael commits suicide and the event leading to the series time loop). We will also know the paradox that is Charlotte and Elizabeth Doppler's complicated relationship in season three and how they come into the grand picture. Considering it is dark, don't expect any logical loopholes or unsolved mysteries, because the series is renowned for its attention to detail. Fingers crossed for a phenomenal finale.
